My name is Eduard Zell and I am currently a Research Fellow (Post-Doc) at Trinity College Dublin, developing new algorithms for facial animation and facial rigging. Previously, I have been working as a Senior Software Developer at Trotzkind GmbH on geometry processing and skinning algorithms within the context of volumetric video. Recently, I completed my Ph.D. on 3D scanning, editing, animation and perception of virtual characters, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mario Botsch (Bielefeld University). In the last years, I have collaborated with research groups e.g., from Ireland, South Korea and Spain with published results at SIGGRAPH, Eurographics and in Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group). I also gained industry experience in software development while working on projects for Adidas (Germany) and Vizrt (Austria).

Furthermore, I am familiar with 3D content creation pipelines due to my degree in Computer Animation and Visual Effects (MSc) from the Bournemouth University (UK) and an internship at RTT - now 3DEXCITE (Germany). Being open to projects off the beaten track, I have organized a delegation trip to the Istanbul’s start-up community and won the 2nd place at the science communication competition FameLab NRW.
